Asphalt offers a smooth blacktop that helps snow and ice melt faster in winter, especially with direct sunlight. A smooth, solid surface can also be more inviting and functional for high-traffic driveways and lots.

Cons

Asphalt’s cost is higher than gravel’s and it still needs more maintenance than concrete or pavers. Despite the need to repair cracks and seal the pavement routinely, asphalt is still a great choice for the relative cost and functionality.
